I am a Texas and Idaho certified special education teacher of 13 years, as well as a board certified music therapist. In addition, I am a mom/stepmom to two beautiful boys on the spectrum and one spunky little girl. Working with autistic children has been a passion of mine since my first day in the classroom. I feel very blessed that God prepared me in such a magnificent way to be the mother and teacher of these beautiful and creative minds.
In 2006 I had the privilege of graduating from West Texas A&M University and then later receiving my Texas teaching certification in Special Education. After teaching in both Texas and Idaho, I returned to Texas and pursued my passion which is music.
After graduating from Sam Houston’s Music Therapy program, I began my own business- A Missing Peace Music Therapy. I also worked at the Crisman school which served twice exceptional children like my own, until it closed in 2020.
Since that time, I have been homeschooling my children and working on de-schooling myself. Breaking away from the traditional way that I was taught to teach has been a process, but my children have thrived in this new environment. They have gone from being behind in all classes to ahead of their peers. They are happy and playful. They want to learn. They make mistakes and correct themselves. They teach each other. They are social and live very fulfilling lives. They are exactly who I dreamed that they could be.
I want to share the joy that we have found with other families through our program which teaches children to find the purpose and passion in what they are learning.
The best way to learn, is to teach!

I have utilized this concept my whole life. I have been helping teach English and American culture to foreign exchange students as long as I can remember. From the time I was born, exchange students lived in my home.
I began traveling the world myself at the age of 11 visiting old exchange students in Europe. What an adventure! This experience helped open my eyes to the joys of international traveling first hand. It also help instill the concept of saying "YES!" to unique opportunities when they presented themselves.
At the age of 15 my father succumb to severe depression by committing suicide. It was difficult for everyone. I didn't realize it at the time, but the most important lesson learned throughout this experience was the importance of mental health and being able to communicate with the people that you care about.
I later graduated college 2006 with a BBA in Management with a passion for traveling. I moved to South Korea in 2007 to teach English. I was fortunate to visit many countries while living there. I have been to 5 of 7 continents, with goals to visit them all one day.
Between jobs in S. Korea, I also was a substitute teacher at my alma mater, Longview High School, for a year.
I returned back to America finding myself a new career in the Non-Destructive Testing(NDT) world. In 2020, I started Lance Thrasher Consulting LLC. I still travel to new places inspecting steel to verify the equipment I test is safe for operation along with teaching classes to do the same. (For more details regarding NDT, please visit our ASNT LVL III SERVICES page.)
When I am not busy with NDT, I am helping Thrasher School House and its students grow in every way I can.
I try to encourage the children and open their mind to the fact that the world is a very big place with many possibilities!
I am a child of God, a wife and a mother. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with my Bachelors in 2009. I am a Texas certified special education teacher, with many years experience working with differently abled people in many different settings. My passion for working with the differently abled started long before that.

I am a Texas certified special education teacher, with many years experience working with differently abled people in many different settings. My passion for working with the differently abled started long before that. When I was 9 years old I met my best friend who happened to have been born with cerebral palsy. He was only on this Earth for 2 more years. In that time he taught me more about compassion, acceptance and love than any other person I have ever come across. He taught me that everyone deserves to be loved for who they are not what they can offer! Helen Keller once said "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched- they must be felt with the heart." My goal is to help those around me learn to feel the most beautiful things!
